Bad to Me

Bad to Me es un tema que Paul y John compusieron en mayo de 1963 y es uno de esos temas que inexplicablemente nunca fueron incluidos en un album oficial. Se trata de un tema romantico -muy al estilo de Do You Want To Know a Secret?- que yo he catalogado como una balada pop.
El tema es tan bueno que Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas lo grabaron en un single -cuya cara B es I call your name- y en ese año de 1963 el tema alcanzo el numero uno de las charts britanicas -Click here to listen Bad to Me/performed by Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas-
Es muy probable que, de no haberlo grabado Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas, The Beatles lo hubiesen incluido en algun disco -quiza en For Sale- pero de cualquier manera existe una version en demo, muy acustica, de Paul y John interpretando a su estilo el tema -Click here to listen Bad To Me-The Beatles (Demo), aunque el mismo Paul ha afirmado el tema fue escrito pensando en Billy y su banda :

"John and I were a songwriting team and what songwriting teams
did in those days was wrote for everyone — unless you couldn't come
up with something or wanted to keep a song for yourself and it was a
bit too good to give away. John and I would get together, "Oh, we
gotta write one for Billy J, OK [sings part of 'Bad To Me', simply] `
Birds in the sky will be..."' and we just knocked them out. In our minds
there was a very vague formula and we could do it quite easily."

En 1964 el tema fue de nuevo covereado dos veces: Roger Webb and his Trio y Leon Young String Chorale hicieron sus propias versiones sin tanto exito y mas recientemente, en 1997, Joe Goldmark grabo la version mas actual que yo conozco.
